Anthony Edwards’ alleged condom controversy: What his ex said in court

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is making headlines off the court this week – not for his playoff performance, but for an ongoing legal dispute with ex Ayesha Howard that just took a more complicated turn.

Howard, 37, filed new documents on May 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court, asking a judge to reconsider the decision that California isn’t the right place to handle child support matters involving their daughter, Aubri Summer Howard, born in October 2024. But it wasn’t just legal arguments she brought to court – she also submitted what appear to be intimate text messages between her and Edwards.

The messages, obtained by In Touch Weekly, allegedly show a conversation where Howard questions Edwards about his aversion to condoms. In the texts, she asks directly, “You don’t like condoms?” The alleged reply from Edwards? “I do but not those ones.”

Courtroom fight turns personal with alleged texts and ovulation tracker

The filing goes deeper. Howard claims that during a consensual encounter, Edwards removed a condom without her consent – a claim that legal analysts say could raise serious civil questions even though no criminal chargeshave been filed. “He was fully aware of the risks and consequences of his actions,” she wrote in the motion.

She also submitted a screenshot of her ovulation tracker to counter claims from Edwards’ legal team that she “planned” the pregnancy. In his own filings, Edwards has alleged that Howard intentionally got pregnant for financial reasons and filed in California to increase potential support payments – an accusation she flatly denies.

Edwards, 23, previously stated in court that he wants no custody or visitation with Aubri, leaving support as the sole issue on the table. A DNA test confirmed his paternity in December 2024.

Howard argues that California is the appropriate jurisdiction, pointing out Edwards’ deep ties to Los Angeles – including his sports agent, assistant, and time spent in the state during the period Aubri was conceived. “These omissions were not accidental,” she said, accusing the NBA star of misleading the court to avoid California’s potentially higher child support orders.

Back in January, the court sided with Edwards on the jurisdiction issue, but Howard’s latest motion reopens that door – and this time, she’s bringing more receipts. In addition to the texts and tracker, she also pushed back against claims she worked at Magic City in Atlanta until 2024, providing documentation that her last license there expired in 2018.

Meanwhile, a second woman – Ally D. – has also filed a paternity suit against Edwards, according to TMZ Sports, adding more pressure to an already tense situation. In a previously submitted message, Edwards allegedly told Howard to “get da abortion lol” after she informed him she was pregnant.

The case remains ongoing, and Edwards has yet to publicly respond to the most recent claims. While the Timberwolves continue their playoff run, their star guard now finds himself at the center of an entirely different kind of spotlight.
