An unusual and embarrassing situation occurred during the game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins, when a Phillies fan, who has gone viral on social media, demanded that a father return a home run ball that he had given to his son.
All children dream of one day receiving the ball during a game and being able to catch it, however, there are also adults who seek the same thing and sometimes somewhat unfair situations are experienced and go viral on social networks.
A selfish act
The incident occurred in the fourth inning after Harrison Bader hit a home run that landed in the left field stands. A fan, wearing a Phillies jersey, quickly ran to where the ball fell, picked it up and handed it to his son.
Television images captured the emotional scene of a father making his little boy happy. However, the joy was interrupted by a woman who, furious, chased the father and snatched the ball from him. The woman, with an angry look on her face, demanded that the father give it to her and, in the confusion of the situation, he agreed. The video of what happened quickly went viral on social media, provoking a wave of indignation at the fan’s attitude.
The Marlins’ great gesture
Although the moment was embarrassing, the Marlins managed to remedy the situation. Upon learning of what had happened, team staff sought out the boy to make it up to him. The young fan received a bag full of Marlins merchandise, including signed baseballs, caps and jerseys, as well as the promise of VIP tickets to a future game.
