Eliminated from playoff contention for the second consecutive year, Angel Reese is preparing to bitterly close her second season in the WNBA and with the Chicago Sky.
The numerous losses the team has suffered and the injuries the 23-year-old forward has had to deal with have hindered her journey. She is even coming off a half-game suspension issued by the team. However, Reese released some exciting news with her fans.
Reese’s new project, a week away
Angel ends her season averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Despite this, he was unable to translate his personal achievements into wins for the team and, with a 10-33 record and three straight losses, Sky will play its final game against New York Liberty on Wednesday the 11th at Wintrust Arena.
However, Reese continues to succeed in other aspects of his life, such as his collaboration with the sports brand “Reebok“, with whom he will launch his first exclusive sneaker, the Angel Reese 1: Diamond Dust.
On her official Instagram account, Angel shared with her 5.1 million followers that the shoe will be released on September 18 along with a photo of herself in the behind-the-scenes of the photo shoot.
In addition to adding a countdown, the Sky star wrote, “WE ARE 1 WEEK AWAYYYYYY,” along with an emoji covering her mouth.
This announcement comes a week after the two-time All-Star became embroiled in controversy following her comments about the team in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.
“We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. I am very vocal about what we need and what I want. I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously, I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me,” Reese said.
These remarks caused him to be suspended by Chicago against the Las Vegas Aces for considering these comments as “detrimental” to the team, entering the court after the first half of the game.
