The mother of the Chicago Sky‘s Angel Reese had a weekend to remember in Los Angeles as both of her children made waves in the Californian city as they develop their basketball careers.
Angel Webb Reese, mother of the Sky’s Angel, watched her daughter deliver a historic performance in a slender win over the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA – posting 16 rebounds and claiming a league record in the process.
Whilst Julian Reese received a major career opportunity by signing with the Los Angeles Lakers as an undrafted free agent, earning a chance to secure a future alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic in the NBA.
In light of the memorable moment for the family, the proud mother took to social media to express her feelings, highlighting both the achievements and the emotional connection to her children.
“Both kids are in LA right now,” mother Reese posted to X.com, formerly Twitter. “Wish I was there to give a hug of congratulations to 1 & a hug of encouragement to the other. #proudmom.”
Reese led the Sky to a 92-85 win over the Sparks by putting up 24 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and one steal as she shot 10-of-19 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The performance extended her unprecedented streak of four consecutive WNBA games with at least 15 rebounds, a league record as she tries to hunt down a WNBA Playoffs spot in 2025.

But while Angel’s dominance continues to build on the court, her younger brother is preparing for the next phase of his basketball career with the Lakers after impressing in the NCAA with the Maryland Terrapins.
The standout signed with the team as an undrafted free agent and will compete in the NBA Summer League beginning July 5 in San Francisco, alongside Bronny James.
Julian, completed a successful four-year career at the University of Maryland, where he played 134 games with 102 starts. He became just the second player in Terrapins history to accumulate over 1000 points and 1000 rebounds, finishing with 1488 and 1015 respectively.
Affectionately called “Juju”, he averaged 13.3 points and nine rebounds per game, helping Maryland reach the Sweet 16 in the 2025 NCAA Tournament and even earned All-Big Ten honorable mention recognition for the third straight season.
The Lakers, known for developing talent from undrafted players like Austin Reaves and Alex Caruso, present a promising environment for Julian to prove his value.
He’ll begin Summer League play in the California Classic, followed by a trip to Las Vegas, where the team will face No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks and hopes to be invited to the team’s fall training camp.
