Angel Reese’s bad attitude on court emerges with bad passes and finger pointing while trying to emulate Caitlin Clark’s playing style

We’re past the midway point of the WNBA regular season, and the bottom three teams-Connecticut Sun (4-21), Chicago Sky (7-19), and Dallas Wings (8-19)-are fading fast in the playoff race. These squads haven’t had many highlights this year, but their standout players have kept heads up. Tina Charles has been a rock for the Sun, Angel Reese has been a force for the Sky, and first overall pick Paige Bueckers has dazzled for the Wings, all delivering consistent performances despite their teams’ overall struggles. For Reese, July has been a standout month, riding an impressive 11-game double-double streak, putting her on track to top her own rookie record of 15.

Reese’s Frustration Shows in Missteps and Attitude Shift

Among those three stars, Angel Reese is having the best season yet, dominating the boards and pushing toward a historic mark-potentially becoming the first player ever to grab 500 rebounds in a season. Her recent 11-game double-double run showcases her skill, but a video clip from a recent game reveals a different side. Take a look at the clip: Reese, in a bid to do it all, tried stepping into a point guard role, a clear sign of her frustration with herself and the team.

The footage shows her tossing sloppy passes and pointing fingers at teammates, her demeanor souring as plays broke down. It’s a stark contrast to her usual dominance on rebounds and defense. She seems to be channeling Caitlin Clark’s playmaking flair-known for her assist mastery-while Reese owns the rebounding crown. Both broke records last year in their respective strengths, but Reese’s attempt to mimic Clark’s game exposes a disconnect, hinting she’d be better off sticking to what she does best.

Even with this bad attitudes and the Sky floundering, her individual brilliance has kept fans talking as she’s leading the league in rebounds for the second straight year. If it weren’t for the injury she suffered near the end of last season, she would have broken the record for most rebounds in a season. However, the still-MVP A’ja Wilson took advantage of the injury and finished with the record for most rebounds in a season (451). This year, Reese will break Wilson’s record by a considerable amount – if she doesn’t get injured, that is.

Sky’s Hopes Rest on Reese, But Focus Is Key

During her 11-game streak, where the Sky posted a 4-7 record, Reese has averaged 17.8 points, 14.4 rebounds, and shot an efficient .490% from the field. She’s the lone bright spot for a Chicago team that’s leaning on her for points, boards, and assists under first-year coach Tyler Marsh, whose tenure so far has been a letdown.

With fewer than 20 games left, August offers a last shot at a playoff push-something they missed last year too. Reese’s talent is undeniable, but ditching the point guard experiment and leaning into her rebounding and defensive prowess could be the key to turning the Sky’s season around.
