Angel Reese will join Caitlin Clark on the sidelines: Significant hit to the Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever clash

One of the most awaited games of this WNBA season just received a major blow as Angel Reese will most likely miss the next game between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever. She will join Caitlin Clark on the sidelines. Sky’s head coach, Tyler Marsh, said that Reese hurt her back and might not be available for the clash.

“Angel’s still day-to-day,” Marsh said to the media. “We don’t really want to push her too much with the back injury… she’s progressing as well.”

Reese, who has been doing individual non-contact workouts, has not been able to join team drills. Her injury comes at a crucial point of the season, with the playoffs near and the Sky-Fever fight under the spotlight.

What losing Angel Reese means for Sky

During her second year, Angel Reese has been more than key to the Sky’s wins, averaging about 14.0 points, 12.5 catches, and leading the double-doubles. She is Chicago’s main player on both sides of the court.

Without Reese in the lineup, the Sky must rely a bit more on the experienced hands and the available players on the bench to face a Fever team that is still tough without superstar Cailtin Clark.

Not having neither Angel Reese or Caitlin Clark means a big loss for the WNBA and its earnings. Their new fight has shaped the 2024 and 2025 years, pulling national eyes and more viewers for the league.

This game, first seen as a big fight between two big new stars, now shifts as both teams must adapt without their most important players. Time for the rest to step up and shine for the team.

No set comeback for Reese

While Coach Marsh said Reese is getting better, he set no date for her return.

“She’s not where she was before the injury yet, and that’s okay,” Marsh added. “It’s been over a year, and coming back midseason is always challenging.”

The Sky will keep an eye on her everyday. If all goes well and as planned, fans hope she might be back in early August. Until then, the team is picking caution over urgency, aiming to keep Reese healthy for the future.

Decaf clash between the Sky and the Fever?

With both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark not playing, this weekend’s game might lack main stars, but it is still big. The Chicago Sky will try to win without their star, and fans all over will watch to see who stands out in one of the WNBA’s top fights.

Caitlin Clark, on the othe side, will be absent too. As Chicago Sky, the Indiana Fever will try to maintain their great streak without Clark. What was meant to be the biggest game of the WNBA back in the day, has taken a big turn, but do not be a fool. Even though it might seem like a decaff game, there is a lot on the line.
