Angel Reese takes out her anger on a Chicago Sky teammate after she fails to pass her the ball

The Chicago Sky came up short against the Las Vegas Aces on Monday night, and while the 79-74 loss was tough enough, it also came with a visible moment of tension between teammates.

Angel Reese was caught on camera showing her frustration with guard Sevgi Uzun after a missed opportunity in transition during the first quarter. The play began when Uzun pulled down a long rebound and quickly pushed the ball up the floor.

With Reese calling for a pass and the Aces’ defense scrambling to recover, the Sky had numbers for what looked like a high-percentage chance.

Instead, Uzun pulled up for a jumper that rattled off the rim. Kamilla Cardoso was then whistled for a loose-ball foul on the rebound, and the possession ended with nothing to show for it. Reese, who had positioned herself inside, was visibly upset that Uzun opted not to pass.

A tough night for Uzun

The sequence was just one of several missteps for Uzun, who joined the Sky last month to provide backcourt depth. Head coach Tyler Marsh left her in the game initially, but after she committed a second turnover late in the first quarter, he pulled her from the rotation. Uzun did not return until midway through the fourth quarter.

When she checked back in, she managed to avoid further turnovers but failed to deliver the energy spark the Sky needed in crunch time. The team leaned instead on its frontcourt, where Reese once again shouldered a heavy load.

Reese produces, but Sky falter again

Despite the tense exchange, Reese turned in another strong individual performance, finishing with 10 points and 17 rebounds, her latest double-double in what has been an impressive rookie season statistically. Still, her effort wasn’t enough to lift Chicago.

The Aces, riding the momentum of an 11-game winning streak, showed why they remain the WNBA’s standard bearer. A’ja Wilson led the way with 18 points and nine boards, while her teammates capitalized on Chicago’s turnovers and defensive lapses.

The Sky‘s loss dropped them to 9-28 on the season, underscoring a campaign defined by inconsistency and missed opportunities. For Reese, who has embraced a leadership role quickly as a rookie, the on-court tension may have reflected the broader frustration of a team unable to translate effort into wins.
