Angel Reese starts to receive ‘offers’ to leave Chicago Sky after strange season

After a roller-coaster season filled with brilliance and drama, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has reportedly begun to receive “offers” from other WNBA franchises willing to sign her, Sportskeeda reported.

The 2025 season was far from normal for Reese. While her individual level was superb obtaining almost 15 points and 12 rebounds per game, the Sky just could not match her level. They missed the playoffs, and stories of internal frustration began to emerge as the season was ending.

Now, the rumors that surround the league are that certain franchises see Reese as a future building piece, particularly in light of her breakout inaugural season and increasing stature off the court.

From Sky stardom to departure rumors

It all started when Reese issued a quietly strong statement on social media. After a losing streak, she uploaded an enigmatic social media message that most supporters took as hints of her potential departure.

That tweet, paired with Reese’s outspoken nature and winning attitude, caught fire among WNBA enthusiasts, including some calling for her to be traded to championship-level teams like the Las Vegas Aces.

“She’s too talented to waste years on a rebuilding team. Gotta get traded to the Aces” one user said, a thought which continues to be shared more and more on social media.

Reese has not publicly called for a trade or made overt statements about her future, but the stories show how much the league is anticipating her making her first move.

The Sky’s position

Amidst the rumors, the Chicago Sky front office still insists that they desire to keep Reese. The officials have confirmed that she remains at the center of their rebuild in the long term and that they are fully invested in constructing around her.

General Manager Jeff Pagliocca explained to reporters in interviews last month that the franchise hopes Reese stays at the Sky until the 2026 season, but he admitted that “things can always change in this business.“

The dilemma for the Sky is balancing Reese’s aspirations with the team’s short-term course. While she has been a standout player on the court, the team’s record and continued rebuilding could test her patience.

A season of contradictions

Reese’s year was a story of two halves. She emerged as one of the league’s top stars, with her jersey being one of the WNBA’s top-sellers, and she was also the main receiver of much the negativity thrown at the team.

Reese has really emerged as one of the most polarizing young stars in pro basketball. But her presence cannot be overlooked just like that. Her first season destroyed expectations, and her strong personality might now shape the next dominant narrative of the WNBA offseason.
