Angel Reese shuts down critics and revives Chicago Sky fans with incredible new record

On a night when her Chicago Sky were desperate to get back in rhythm, Angel Reese turned up. If there were still any doubts about her impact, they were put to rest the moment she etched her name into the WNBA record books.

It wasn’t the prettiest start to the Sky‘s season. Chicago came into their matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on a three-game losing streak, and much of the early frustration was centered on Reese’s slow start.

After three underwhelming outings, the low point came during a brutal loss to the New York Liberty. In that game, Reese had her worst showing in a Sky uniform-going 0-for-8 from the field with zero made shots. It was the first time in her WNBA career that she failed to record a field goal.

A historic rebound and a milestone that redefines fast-track greatness

Reese came roaring back in the next contest against the L.A. Sparks, registering a strong double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in 32 minutes of play.

Then came the real headline, a showdown with the Mercury that would mark a defining moment in her young career. Reese dropped another double-double-13 points and 15 rebounds-but this wasn’t just another routine performance.

With those numbers, she officially became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach both 500 points and 500 rebounds, doing it in just 38 games.

That mark broke the previous record set by Connecticut Sun icon Tina Charles, who hit the 500/500 milestone in 44 games. Reese now stands alone, reaching 502 points and 502 rebounds faster than any other player in league history. To do that in her second season, on a team still finding its identity, is nothing short of extraordinary.

Even in defeat, Reese’s performance sparked a wave of praise across social media. From former players to current analysts and a growing fanbase, the reaction was clear: she’s not just living up to the hype-she’s rewriting it.
