Angel Reese shone in her second season with Chicago Sky. Although they failed to qualify for the NWBA playoffs, the forward averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
However, she is not the only one in her family who stands out for her basketball skills: her brother Julian does too. And she couldn’t be more proud.
Reese publicly supported her brother
On Tuesday, Juju had an outstanding performance with the Raptors 905 in the G League. They faced the Winchester Knicks and not only beat them 126-99 but also made history.
This new victory was the 905’s 14th in a row, and Julian Reese played a big part: he led the team with 8 rebounds, 10 points, and 2 assists. This performance led his coach to name him player of the game and give him a chain for his great job.
After the game, the team shared a video on their official Instagram account showing this sequence: “Juju showing out BIG today,” wrote the Raptors.
Fans were quick to comment: “Let’s go Juju,” encouraged one of them. “So exciting! We are so proud of all of you,” said another user. “These guys are amazing!!! Just incredible!” commented a follower.
But this reel was also shared by his sister, Angel, on her Instagram stories, and she wrote encouragingly: “SHIFTYYYY @SHIFTY_JU” along with a white heart emoji.
After not being selected in this year’s NBA Draft, Julian joined the Los Angeles Lakers during the Summer League. In October, with an Exhibit 10 contract, Juju arrived at the Raptors.
Although this was not his best performance, he was key to the victory. In this way, they became the only G League team to enter the Winter Showcase undefeated. This 31-game event is crucial for players, as the opening of the 10-day contract window could give them a chance to fulfill their dream of being part of an NBA roster.
Meanwhile, Angel is preparing for her third season with the Chicago Sky. Although doubts about her future with the team increased due to her statements to the Chicago Tribune, where she publicly criticized her teammates and the team’s sanctioning of Reese, the forward herself assured that she is staying in Chicago:
“I’m under contract. I plan on returning to the Sky, continuing to talk to Tyler, and building that relationship with Jeff and Tyler,” she said, dispelling all rumors.
