Angel Reese receives a reaction from Chicago Sky fans that could change her future

Angel Reese‘s time with the Chicago Sky has been one of the most talked-about stories in the WNBA this season.

After a string of controversies, suspensions, and public criticism over the state of the team, Reese got a powerful reminder of why many believe she belongs-not just in Chicago, but as a potential long-term cornerstone.

In the Sky’s final home game of the season, Reese, out due to a back injury and serving a suspension, emerged from the tunnel wearing street clothes.

She didn’t play-but she was met with a loud and sustained standing ovation from Sky fans who seemed eager to let her know: they still stand with her.

Fan backing could shift front-office calculus

The moment was captured in video and social media, and it’s already sparking conversations about her future with the franchise.

There’s a larger context behind Reese‘s difficult season. She led the league in rebounds (12.6 per game) and posted 23 double-doubles, averaging 14.7 points over 30 games.

Yet her public criticisms of the Sky’s roster, her hint that improvements are “non-negotiable,” and expressions of willingness to “move in a different direction” if things don’t change have put her in hot water.

Coach Tyler Marsh was asked before the Liberty game whether Reese still has a future with Chicago. His one-word reply: “Sure.” It’s far from a full endorsement-but the fans’ reaction suggests there’s pressure on the Sky‘s management and front office to address Reese’s concerns or risk losing her.

Reese’s relationship with the organization now seems to hinge on more than just performance – it’s about trust, support, and alignment of expectations.

Her immense popularity with the Chicago fanbase might just be powerful enough to tilt the balance.

If Chicago wants to keep her, the coming months – especially the offseason – could be decisive. Whether that means roster upgrades, improved communication, or even a trade, it’s clear: the fans have made their voice heard. And now, the Sky will have to respond.
