Angel Reese sends the Chicago Sky a clear message ahead of the 2025 WNBA Draft by instructing her team to pick Olivia Miles, as the 22-year-old identifies her as a way to stop Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
The Sky are bidding to improve on a .325 record from last time out and to make a push for the playoffs as they look to become champions of women’s basketball for the first time since 2021, when they defeated the Phoenix Mercury.
With Reese, as the forward, backed up by the Camilla Kardoso they’re already in good shape but the ex-LSU Tiger thinks Miles can be a key addition ahead of the upcoming campaign as they look to replace Kahleah Cooper.
“We’re trying to get her,” Reese told Lisa Leslie on her Unapologetically Angel podcast, with the Sky currently holding the third pick in the draft behind the Dallas Wings, who are expected to pick Paige Bueckers, and the Los Angeles Sparks.
Miles currently plays for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as a point guard, a role the Sky desperately need to fill and she’s impressed in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 22-year-old, from New Jersey, has NCAA averages of 13.6 points, 6.8 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game excluding the ongoing season.
If her stats from the 2024/25 year read as 17 points, 6.3 assists and six rebounds, making her an attractive prospect for the front office at the Wintrust Arena to look into. It’s clear to see why Angel Reese likes her already.
Most recently on Valentine’s Day, she gave the Fighting Irish fans something to fall in love with by posting 28 points in 35 minutes as well as seven rebounds and five assists against the Pittsburgh Panthers showing what kind of peak she has.
When does the 2025 WNBA season start?
The 2025 WNBA season kicks off for the Chicago Sky against the Indiana Fever, headed by Clark, on Saturday May 17.
The game will take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will tip off from 13:00 ET/10:00 PT.
