In the midst of a forgettable season for the Chicago Sky and after another defeat, their eighth in the last 10 games, Angel Reese cleared up any doubts about her supposed rivalry with one of her teammates.
In the run-up to Saturday’s game, where they fell to the Connecticut Sun 94-84 at Wintrust Arena, the 23-year-old forward made her opinion clear.

The truth is that Angel and Kamilla Cardoso were rivals during their time in college. Then, the South Carolina star joined the Sky as the third overall pick in the 2024 Draft, signing a four-year, $338,056 contract. Reese also joined that same year, but as the seventh pick.
Now that they are part of the same team, it seems that their bond has changed and they are empowering each other. Or so Angel believes.
Before the matchup, the two-time All-Star was asked by Andy Diederich of Back Sport Page about her closeness with her teammate, and she had nothing but praise for her, dispelling rumors that their college rivalry still continues:
I hate that people always try to pit us against each other, but we’re better together. We can do a lot of great things.
“We help each other and make each other better. She had a great game last game, and that’s the Kamilla we need every game… When Kamilla is confident, we’re an even better team. So I’m really happy with where she is right now, and I know she’ll continue to grow,” Angel concluded.
The truth is that, against the New York Liberty, the Chicago Sky had a great performance and managed to beat them 91-85. Kamilla’s performance did not go unnoticed with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists in 34 minutes. Meanwhile, the former LSU player closed the night with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.
However, they were unable to extend their winning streak and fell to the Sun. Cardoso’s 18 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds and Angel’s 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists were not enough to secure another victory.
Now, both are preparing to face A’ja Wilson’s Las Vegas Aces on Monday, August 25, again at Wintrust Arena, and try to improve their 9-27 record, although they practically no longer have a chance of playing in the playoffs.
