If the Chicago Sky had enjoyed a fully healthy Angel Reese all season, their playoff outlook might look very different.

While the postseason remains out of reach, the rookie forward is making the most of her return from injury, delivering strong performances that not only showcase her resilience but also highlight her growing impact on the league.

In just her second game back, Reese powered the Sky to a statement victory against the New York Liberty, the second-best team in the WNBA standings.

Chicago came out on top 91-85, with Reese contributing 21 points and 10 rebounds. For a team that has struggled with consistency, the win underscored the type of spark the 22-year-old can provide.

“Charm City” sneaker drop carries deeper meaning

Beyond her play on the hardwood, Reese is continuing to cement her presence as a cultural figure.

On Saturday, Reebok officially unveiled the fourth colorway of her highly anticipated signature sneaker, the Angel Reese 1. Dubbed the “Charm City” edition, the release features a bold purple base accented with black detailing and crisp white trim.

While the design resonates with Baltimore Ravens fans, its roots stretch far deeper.

“This one’s for Charm City, to honor my roots and the community of Baltimore that has backed me from day one,” Reese said. “This city gave me my grit and made me who I am today.”

The heartfelt dedication resonated widely, with fans quick to praise the tribute. One supporter wrote, “Listennnnn! I’m in love, I have absolutely got to have these. They are the freakin one.”

For Reese, the shoes are more than a stylish release, they represent her journey from Baltimore to becoming one of the WNBA’s most promising young stars.

Closing out the season strong

The timing of the sneaker debut aligns with Reese‘s determination to finish the season on a high note.

Chicago‘s next test comes against the Connecticut Sun, another team on the fringe of contention. While postseason hopes are gone, the final stretch still holds significance for Reese, who continues to build confidence after her injury setback.

Her presence has already shown immediate impact. Against New York, Reese‘s physicality on the boards and finishing ability in the paint gave the Sky a blueprint for what they could look like with her fully healthy.

That glimpse of potential offers fans hope for 2026, when Chicago will look to retool and climb back into playoff contention.

As much as her numbers matter, it’s the combination of on-court production and off-court influence that sets Reese apart.

Whether battling in the post or unveiling sneakers that pay homage to her city, she carries her roots with her, making Baltimore pride part of the WNBA spotlight.
