Angel Reese continues to solidify her place among the WNBA’s brightest young stars, drawing admiration from both fans and fellow players during the 2025 All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. The Chicago Sky forward received high praise from Sydney Colson, a veteran with the Indiana Fever, in a candid interview with Yahoo Sports and former WNBA player Theresa Plaisance.

“We’re very happy for you,” Colson told Reese. “To see the road from your year one to your year two, you can tell you put in work and with all of the negativity that you receive, I hope you know that a lot of us, we admire you – how you carry yourself and how you show up all the time so keep being that.”

Plaisance echoed the sentiment, calling Reese “a bright light in this world,” and commending the 23-year-old for carrying women’s basketball “on your shoulders with such poise and grace.”

Reese prepares for second All-Star appearance and rising stardom

Now in her second season with Chicago, Reese enters the All-Star break averaging 14 points, a league-leading 12.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. She’s played in all 21 games so far, logging over 31 minutes per contest and shooting 44.6% from the field.

Reese will feature in her second All-Star Game on Sunday night, playing for Team Collier against Team Clark. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and will air on ESPN. Caitlin Clark, sidelined with a groin injury, will not participate.

Off the court, Reese‘s profile continues to climb. Earlier this month, she was named the NBA 2K26 WNBA Edition cover athlete, joining Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Carmelo Anthony on the game’s various editions. The WNBA version will be sold exclusively at GameStop beginning September 5.

Despite early-career criticism, Reese‘s impact and presence have earned widespread respect. Colson‘s words underscored the admiration she commands across the league, even from rivals.
