This Friday, the league revealed the first results of fan voting for the WNBA All-Star Game, set to take place on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home of the Indiana Fever.
Reese, one of the WNBA’s most popular players, made headlines by ranking 13th overall with 173,363 votes. Her performance speaks for itself: she is the only player this season averaging a double-double, with 11.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
While she trails stars like A’ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier in frontcourt voting, Reese leads all players from the Chicago Sky, reaffirming her status as a cornerstone of the franchise.
Clark dominates, but Reese leads Chicago
As Reese solidifies her All-Star standing, rookie sensation Caitlin Clark continues to dominate headlines, topping the overall voting with 515,993 votes. Clark, a guard for the Indiana Fever, remains a sports and media phenomenon, fueling fan excitement around the event.
Reese isn’t the only Sky player catching the public’s attention. Fellow rookie and teammate Kamilla Cardoso ranks 22nd with 95,986 votes. Despite Chicago’s rough 3-8 start to the season, Cardoso has impressed with averages of 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and a 51.9% field goal percentage.
Reese hopes she won’t be alone at the All-Star this year
The possibility of Cardoso joining the All-Star roster is especially meaningful to Reese, who had a bittersweet experience in 2024 as Chicago’s lone representative at the event in Phoenix.
“I’m really proud of Kamilla,” Reese said on Friday. “I think she should be picked for the All-Star Game. I hope she’s there.”
The forward didn’t hide her feelings about what it would mean to share the event with a close teammate.
“Last year was a little sad not having anyone there,” she admitted. “Hopefully this year, I’ll have someone I truly know.”
In last year’s All-Star Game, Reese was part of Team WNBA, which faced off against Team USA. She shared the court with stars like Arike Ogunbowale, DeWanna Bonner, Nneka Ogwumike, Jonquel Jones, and Clark.
Despite the high level of competition, the lack of personal connections on the team left a lasting impression on the young star.
