We are just a few days away from the start of thePickleball Slam 3 and things are already heating up off the court.
This time with Andy Roddick and Andre Agassi. Both were the stars of the 2023 edition of Pickleball, they were the winning duo and the big sensation of the championship.
For this edition, Agassi rejected Andy and decided to choose his wife, Steffi Graf, as his partner in the tournament, something that generated a lot of envy from Roddick and it seems that he still has not gotten over this decision of his former partner.
The most anticipated confrontation
The Pickleball Slam 3 will take place on February 16th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf will take the court against Andy Roddick and his brand new partner in adventure, Canadian Eugenie Bouchard.
Ahead of what promises to be an exciting match, Roddick did not miss the opportunity to show his sarcastic side and criticize his former duo. In several jokes, he made it clear that he was not amused that Agassi had stood him up for his wife.
It seems that Roddick is trying to play mind games to make his rival nervous, as he continues to make controversial statements to spice up the match:
“I guess that’s what happens when you have a wife who is the best of all time as an option. “Does it bother me that Andre chose Steffi over me for the Grand Slam? No. It’s just live on ESPN and there are a lot of people watching,” Andy said.
Is it all about strategy?
It’s no secret that Andy Roddick’s jokes are all about getting inside Andre Agassi’s head. His rival’s tremendous successes could be the reason.
Andre Agassi has won the Pickleball Slam twice: two years ago with Roddick and in 2024 with his wife Steffi Graf. Last year, they beat Sharapova and McEnroe.
Now, in the third season, Agassi, with eight Grand Slam titles, is putting the pressure on his opponents and taking on his former partner Roddick. We have no doubt that this will be an incredible match that the fans will enjoy. Let’s see if the trash talk strategy works.
