Andy Reid steals the show at the NFL awards, overshadowing Coach of the Year Mike Vrabel

The Kansas City Chiefs indeed had a forgettable season. Moreover, as expected, the NFL overlooked them for its end-of-season honors; however, that didn’t stop head coach Andy Reid from stealing the show, and the team celebrated wildly on social media.

It’s safe to say that Clark Hunt and the Chiefs’ brass would prefer to erase the 2025 season from their history books. After playing in the Super Bowl the year before, the team finished this year with a 6-11 record.

The lackluster record left them out of the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and is one of the worst in Reid’s decorated career. In 27 seasons as head coach, Reid has been:

  • 3-time Super Bowl champion
  • AP Coach of the Year (2002)
  • 3-time Sporting News Coach of the Year (2000, 2002, 2018)
  • Pro Football Weekly Coach of the Year (2002)
  • 4-time Greasy Award winner (2000, 2002, 2010, 2018)
  • Philadelphia Eagles 75th Anniversary Team

Now Reid can add another accolade to his list: NFL’s Best Dressed.

The unofficial award for Reid, that stole the show from Vrabel

This Thursday, the NFL presented the awards for the best of the 2025 season in a lavish ceremony at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, California. Among other awards, Mike Vrabel took home the AP Coach of the Year award.

However, just before Vrabel was announced as the winner, the league unofficially presented the Best Dressed Coach award, showing a photo of Reid at a press conference wearing one of his famous Hawaiian shirts.

Although Reid didn’t attend the ceremony, the audience erupted in applause, and the Chiefs showed off the “award” on Instagram, posting the clip of the presentation with a simple caption: “Coach [heart emoji] a Hawaiian shirt.”

The post caused an immediate stir, racking up 17,000 likes and hundreds of comments in just a few hours.

What’s next for Reid and the Chiefs?

The veteran head coach is entering the third year of a five-year, reportedly $100 million contract with Kansas City. However, the Chiefs’ 2026 season has more questions than answers.

Among the most pressing is the immediate future of Travis Kelce, who has yet to announce whether he will leave or return. Added to this is Patrick Mahomes’ ACL injury, which could sideline him at the start of the season.

While Reid and the Chiefs’ front office work through these questions, the head coach can start thinking about new fashion statements for the upcoming season.
