Andy Reid Claps Back at Doubters: “We have winners here” as Chiefs gear up for new season

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn’t letting last season’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles shake his confidence – and he made that clear in a recent training camp interview.

After the Chiefs’ shocking 40-22 defeat to a younger, hungrier Eagles squad in Super Bowl LIX, many questioned whether Reid’s team still had what it takes to compete at the highest level. Despite finishing 15-2 in the regular season, the Chiefs faced scrutiny over a series of close games and moments of inconsistency.

But on Monday, during a candid conversation with Up and Adams host Kay Adams, Reid sent a blunt message to critics: “We have winners here.”

The important thing is to win, says Reid

Acknowledging the nail-biter nature of many games, the 67-year-old coach said, “That’s the National Football League. I was proud of those guys and how they handled those.” He added, “When it’s all said and done, it’s winning the game. And we have winners and they figured it out.”

Reid dismissed the noise of doubters, warning, “If you listen to all the noise, you’re gonna go crazy, you’re not gonna have fun.”

Looking ahead, Reid spoke about the upcoming challenges, including a notable trip to Brazil, and emphasized the intense parity in today’s NFL – where contenders like the Eagles, Lions, Bills, and Ravens all threaten the Chiefs’ reign.

The preseason brought good news to the Chiefs

Despite recent concerns after tight end Travis Kelce took a surprising hit in practice, the team received positive updates on wide receiver Rashee Rice, who returned to practice on Monday, boosting optimism.

With a legacy of resilience and championship pedigree, Reid and the Chiefs are ready to take on the new season’s obstacles head-on – promising Kansas City fans that the hunt for another Super Bowl title is very much alive.
