Hayden Christensen surprised fans at Wrigley Field, creating a unique moment for those attending the game.

It was during the game between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates that the actor known for playing Darth Vader was invited to throw out the first ceremonial pitch.

It all started as a classic protocol act but it became a cinematic and nostalgic experience for those present at Wrigley Field. That’s when Hayden Christensen appeared on the mound wearing a number 66 jersey, an obvious nod to Star Wars’ Order 66, which marks one of the most emblematic events of the saga.

The Sith tribute that ignited the Chicago Cubs game

After seeing Darth Vader on the mound wearing the number 66 jersey, fans began to react on social media to the pitch and the emotional moment at Wrigley Field.

The spectators managed to feel a connection with the franchise and this tribute was full of nostalgia for the Chicago Cubs fans who were present and who are also followers of Star Wars.

Unfortunately, the Chicago Cubs could not capitalize on that moment of connection as they lost their 3-2 encounter against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Hayden Christensen’s pitching was the highlight of the encounter.

This appearance by the actor complemented the long tradition of MLB to integrate celebrities and cultural moments during ceremonial acts and the appearance of Hayden Christensen was full of music, costumes and a special atmosphere.

How are the Chicago Cubs doing this season?

On Friday, August 15, the first game in the Chicago Cubs vs Pittsburgh Pirates series was played, today the second will be played and tomorrow their divisional matchups will conclude.

At the moment, the Chicago Cubs are in second place in their division with 68 wins and 53 losses on the season. They are nine games behind the leaders, the Milwaukee Brewers.
