The WNBA is one of the most exciting leagues today. Without a doubt, basketball fans, or sports fans in general, love watching these super athletes compete to score again and again. That’s why it has caught the attention of the CEO of a men’s NBA team, who applauds the achievements of two undisputed figures: Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers.

The WNBA attracted a record 22 regular-season game broadcasts, averaging at least one million viewers, and in 2024, 136.29 million hours of viewership were recorded across all national networks. This is largely thanks to Clark and Bueckers, who, in addition to contributing to their teams, also contribute to the sport they love.

Dallas Mavericks’ Rick Welts Praises the WNBA

Dallas Mavericks (NBA Western Conference) CEO Rick Welts played a pivotal role in launching the WNBA, winning Brandweek’s Marketer of the Year award in 1998. He’s proud to see the women’s league’s progress over the past 28 years.

“I love everything that’s happening right now,” Welts said. “This isn’t something that just happened. And I’m so happy for the players, executives, and coaches who for 28 years have built a foundation that has allowed Clark and Bueckers to come in now and spark the interest and enthusiasm surrounding the WNBA”.

Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, the best of the WNBA

The arrival of two superstars like Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers was the best thing that could have happened to the WNBA. The former, the Indiana Fever’s top powerhouse, is driving up ratings and attendance, as every time her team plays on the road, they are forced to move to larger arenas due to the number of people who want to watch them.

For her part, Bueckers serves as a model of youth and unparalleled potential that shines with the Dallas Wing. She averages 18.1 points per game, 5.6 assists per game, and 3.9 rebounds per game, breaking numerous records. She is the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award in 2025; she was also a key player in the WNBA All-Star Game.
