An important Cleveland Browns wide receiver admits that Shedeur Sanders had never practiced with the first team; Kevin Stefanski was exposed

One of the biggest stories in the NFL was Shedeur Sanders‘ debut with the Cleveland Browns. It wasn’t the best performance, but there’s an explanation behind the ineffective drives he led as the rookie quarterback, who will likely get his first career start next week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Browns recently announced that Dillon Gabriel remains in the concussion protocol after being ruled out for the second half against the Baltimore Ravens. Regarding this situation, Kevin Stefanski said he will provide more updates on Wednesday.

Confirmation that Shedeur Sanders never took reps with the first-team offense

In an article covering various current Browns topics, wide receiver Cedric Tillman made comments that confirmed one of the most criticized aspects of head coach Kevin Stefanski’s decisions.

“He’s a competitor,” the WR told the media. “Playing with him was the first time, so that was cool, but I see him every day, see how he works and stuff like that, see how he prepares, so it was cool being out there with him.”

With those words, Tillman confirmed what the head coach had already admitted after the game: Shedeur Sanders had not taken a single rep with the starters, leaving him completely unprepared.

Shedeur Sanders replaced Dillon Gabriel in the second half to a loud ovation from the crowd. In his playing time, he completed 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and threw one interception. The rookie QB managed to drive the Browns to the Ravens’ 25-yard line on a potential game-tying drive, but they failed to score the touchdown.

For many fans and NFL analysts, it’s shocking that Shedeur Sanders had never practiced with his starting teammates, essentially throwing him into a brand-new experience on game day. In other words, he wasn’t familiar with their timing and movements at all.

Even though Kevin Stefanski continues to insist that Dillon Gabriel is his starting quarterback, he may be forced to turn to Shedeur Sanders if the former Oregon Duck does not clear the NFL concussion protocol.
