An expert explodes against the Yankees’ management after seeing their collapse

According to Joel Sherman, who is an MLB insider and columnist for the New York Post, he posted a video after the Yankees end-of-season press conference. The common perception that emerged from that availability (which was not attended by owner Hal Steinbrenner) is that the Yankees are ready to repeat with manager Aaron Boone and general manager Brian Cashman.

This, despite another failed postseason campaign that left the Yankees without a World Series title since 2009. While the fan base is growing weary of the Yankees’ management, New York is ready to wash, rinse and repeat in 2026.

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result

More of the Same”If you hate Brian Cashman and you hate Aaron Boone, you’re going to hate what’s coming next,” Joel Sherman began his video. “It’s not changing much. They changed some things, maybe they changed the curtains. Mike Harkey, the bullpen coach. Pat Roessler, an assistant hitting coach. Travis Chapman, first base coach. Those are the ones who left.

“But the same people who are making decisions in the front office, the same person making the decision is the manager,” Sherman added. “They’re coming back. I don’t think their philosophy is going to change much. So they’re getting the band back together, and I’ll call that band, until something changes, the red zone Yankees. They’re really good at getting close to the goal line.”

“I asked both guys if they had any ideas on what would carry them those last few yards and cross the finish line to the World Series zone, excuse the terrible analogy, to the Canyon of Heroes. No one offered anything concrete except that you keep trying, you keep forming good teams and you hope that someday everything will align and go as you hope,” concluded Joel Sherman.

The wait for the 28th World Series title at the hands of the Boone-Cashman duo

Aaron Boone has just finished his eighth season as manager of the Yankees. New York, a team that pulled him out of the ESPN broadcast booth after firing Joe Girardi after the 2017 season. With Aaron Boone at the helm, the Yankees have only missed the playoffs once (2023). But the club’s World Series title drought continues.

Before this season, the Yankees awarded Aaron Boone a two-year contract extension that runs through 2027, while Brian Cashman’s ties to the Yankees date back to 1986. He has been general manager since 1998 and was involved in building the rosters of the last five World Series winners. After the 2022 season, the Yankees awarded Brian Cashman a four-year contract extension that runs through 2026.
