With two preseason losses under their belt, the Dallas Cowboys are facing mounting pressure to reassess their roster. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer has indicated that substantial changes are forthcoming.

Various distractions are surrounding the Cowboys, as usual; Micah Parsons’ trade request and contract situation, Jerry Jones’, aka ‘The Gambler’, new Netflix series, etc. Welcome to Dallas. Schottenheimer is aiming to address the team’s underperformance and set a new course for the upcoming season.

Roster shakeup plans

Schottenheimer has emphasized a flexible approach to a roster construction, focusing on player performance rather than traditional positional allocations. He noted:

It’s year by year…conversations have been ongoing throughout the entire training camp process

He highlighted the dynamic nature of roster decisions with these words. This strategy aims to adapt to the evolving needs of the team and capitalize on emerging talents.

Season outlook and analyst predictions

Despite these efforts, analysts remain skeptical about the Cowboys’ prospects for the upcoming season. Ali Bhanpuri forecasts a 7-10 record, while Adam Rank predicts an 8-9 finish.

Both attribute these projections to “distractions” surrounding the team. The early season schedule, starting with a Thursday Night Football road opener at Philadelphia, adds to the challenge ahead.
