With Caitlin Clark, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald out due to injury, Indiana Fever defeated Connecticut Sun 99-93 in overtime at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Without a doubt, Kelsey Mitchell was the star of the game and the team. She was the top scorer of the night with 38 points. She also had six assists and one rebound.

Odyssey Sims, re-signed for seven days, also shone for the Fever with 19 points and seven assists. Natasha Howard was not far behind, standing out with 18 points, one assist, and nine rebounds. However, Aliyah Boston also wrote her name in the franchise’s record books.

Boston’s milestone

In the game against the Sun, the 23-year-old center had 14 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks.

However, this was also Boston’s 15th double-double of the season, making her the only Fever player to achieve this feat. With this milestone in her career and in the franchise, Aliyah dethroned Caitlin Clark, who had established herself with 14 last year. And that’s not all, as with nine games remaining, Boston could increase this total.

Of course, this fact did not go unnoticed by the team, who highlighted their star center with a post on their official X account. “AB, the double-double machine,” they wrote, and along with a photo of her stats and those of the franchise, they added: “Congrats to Aliyah Boston on becoming the new franchise leader for most double-doubles in a single season with 15 & counting!“

Fans also showed their support and left comments on the Fever’s post: “Congratulations, @aa_boston… you are an incredible player and an inspiration to so many young girls and boys who look up to you as a professional basketball player and a leader. Good for you… what a game today!!!” wrote one follower. “AB, the double-double machine. Aliyah’s season is a masterclass,” said another fan. “AB is the rock and foundation of this team,” said another user.

The truth is that, in her third year on the team, Aliyah is posting her best numbers, averaging 15.2 points, 3.6 assists, and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Meanwhile, this victory leaves Indiana with a 19-16 record and returns them to sixth place in the WNBA standings. They will now face the league’s best team, the Minnesota Lynx, in two consecutive games on Friday the 22nd and Sunday the 24th. Will Boston continue to rack up double-doubles?
