A’ja Wilson added another remarkable milestone to her resume on Sunday, but the celebration was muted by the outcome on the scoreboard.
The Las Vegas Aces star became only the seventh player in WNBA history to surpass 1,000 career playoff points during Game 4 of the semifinals against the Indiana Fever.
Despite her achievement, the Aces fell 90-83 in Indianapolis, setting up a decisive Game 5 back in Las Vegas.
Wilson reached the mark early in the first half, entering the game with 991 postseason points. Her opening burst helped her clear the threshold, and by halftime she had 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, plus two steals and a block.
The performance also lifted her past Maya Moore for fourth all-time in playoff field goals made. According to The Playoffs News, she became the third-fastest player to hit 1,000 points in the postseason, trailing only Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart.
Indiana leans on Boston and Mitchell
While Wilson etched her name deeper into league history, the Fever ensured the night belonged to Indiana.
Aliyah Boston, last season’s Rookie of the Year, dominated inside with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and repeatedly punishing Las Vegas in transition.
The Fever entered halftime tied at 44, then surged ahead in the third quarter with a mix of Boston‘s interior presence and Mitchell‘s perimeter scoring.
According to ESPN, Indiana‘s balanced attack left the Aces scrambling defensively, with Las Vegas unable to string together the stops needed to mount a comeback in the final minutes.
Wilson finished the game with 31 points and nine rebounds, again leading the Aces in scoring. Jackie Young added 18 points, while Kelsey Plum was held to just nine, going 3-of-12 from the floor.
That imbalance underscored the Aces‘ ongoing challenge in this series: relying too heavily on Wilson‘s production without consistent secondary scoring.
For Indiana, the win extended what has already been a breakthrough postseason run. The Fever are chasing their first Finals berth since 2015, and the victory before a raucous home crowd ensured they will have a chance to clinch in a high-stakes Game 5 on the road.
A milestone in perspective
Wilson‘s 1,000-point mark places her among legends of the game, a list that includes Taurasi, Tamika Catchings, Candace Parker, Cappie Pondexter, Sue Bird, and Stewart.
As Sports Illustrated noted, reaching that plateau in just 50 playoff games underlines her consistency and dominance in high-pressure moments.
This season alone, Wilson has added another MVP trophy, her fourth, and anchored Las Vegas as they push for a third consecutive Finals appearance.
