A’ja Wilson made history by being named the WNBA Most Valuable Player for the 2025 season, becoming the only player in the league to win the award four times.

In doing so, the Las Vegas Aces icon surpassed the three-time and all-time MVP winners: Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson.

Wilson, MVP

A’ja ended up winning the voting by a landslide, receiving 51 first-place votes from a panel of 72 voters and 657 voting points.

Wilson was competing against Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever), Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream) and Alyssa Thomas (Phoenix Mercury).

“FOUR. EVER. THE. ONE. A surprise fit for history. A’ja Wilson adds to her legacy in unforgettable fashion.” wrote the official WNBA X account to announce this news, along with a video of the Aces star.

This new award adds to her other three as Defensive Player of the Year, a Finals MVP, two championships, and the Rookie of the Year trophy. Just to name a few.

The 29-year-old center had an outstanding season with the team and averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.3 blocks per game. In addition, the seven-time All-Star led the WNBA in points and blocks per game this season.

Although it was a slight drop in her numbers compared to the previous season, A’ja has been key to lead the team to the top and qualify in second place to the Playoffs.

In the quarterfinals, Wilson shined and averaged 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game against the Seattle Storm, who snapped the Aces’ 16-game winning streak by forcing a third game. Now, they await the Indiana Fever this Sunday at Michelob ULTRA Arena in a best-of-five series.
