A’ja Wilson has no competition with Caitlin Clark’s injury and makes it clear once again that the MVP will be hers

The Las Vegas Aces have firmly established themselves as the dominant force in the WNBA this season.

Their momentum is undeniable, akin to the principle Sir Isaac Newton outlined: an object in motion remains in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

No such force seems capable of halting the Aces as they now boast an impressive 15-game winning streak.

Their most recent triumph came against the Chicago Sky, who fell 80-66 despite a balanced scoring effort, highlighting the unrelenting power of A’ja Wilson and her teammates.

With Angel Reese suspended for the first half, the Aces were still able to dominate the floor. A’ja Wilson, the league’s clear MVP candidate, once again showcased why she is the frontrunner for the award.

She poured in 31 points, added 11 rebounds, and contributed defensively with four steals and three blocks. Her efficiency from the field was remarkable, going 12-20 on her shot attempts. This performance further cements her position as the uncontested favorite for MVP, leaving Napheesa Collier in the shadows despite her excellent season.

Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray support Wilson’s MVP case

While Wilson was the centerpiece, the rest of the Aces Big Three also delivered standout performances. Jackie Young posted 20 points, nine assists, and five rebounds, shooting 8-14 from the field, including three triples on seven attempts.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Gray contributed 13 points, four assists, and five rebounds, going 5-9 overall and 3-6 from deep.

The trio’s balanced dominance left the Chicago Sky unable to respond effectively, despite five players reaching double figures, including Kamille Cardoso and Michaela Onyenwere, both scoring 12 points. Turnovers proved costly for Chicago, committing 19 in total, which the Aces exploited with precision.

Looking ahead, the Las Vegas Aces maintain a favorable path toward securing a top playoff seed.

Tied with the Atlanta Dream for second place with only two games remaining, the Aces still control their own destiny thanks to a 3-0 season record against the Dream.

Upcoming matchups include another game against the Chicago Sky at home, followed by a showdown with the LA Sparks, with victories expected in both contests. This positions Wilson and the Aces to potentially extend their winning streak to 17 games before the regular season concludes.

The MVP race has shifted dramatically in recent days. A’ja Wilson entered the week as a 4/1 favorite for the award, but her recent performances, including a dominating win over the Minnesota Lynx, have dramatically shortened her odds to -400.

With Caitlin Clark sidelined by injury, no other player currently presents a challenge to Wilson’s supremacy. It now appears all but inevitable that A’ja Wilson will claim the WNBA MVP title, further solidifying her status as the league’s premier star.
