A’ja Wilson doesn’t shy away from the Bam Adebayo comparison

Love may be in the air whenever A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo are spotted together, but make no mistake: when it comes to competition, Wilson isn’t playing games.

The basketball stars have been fueling romance rumors for nearly a year. Neither has officially confirmed the relationship, but Wilson made one thing clear-if they ever went head-to-head on the court, she’d come out on top.

Rumors started swirling last Summer when the pair were frequently seen together off the court during the Olympic Games. Fans really took notice when Adebayo was spotted supporting Team USA at the gold medal game against France. The whispers only grew louder after their return stateside, with the two regularly cheering each other on at games. Bam even made headlines for being front and center when South Carolina retired Wilson’s jersey.

But while the love buzz continues, Wilson’s competitive fire clearly burns even brighter.

Who would win 1-on-1-A’ja or Bam?

During the WNBA All-Star Game weekend, a reporter asked Wilson directly: who would win in a one-on-one matchup between her and Adebayo?

Without missing a beat, the two-time WNBA champion confidently responded, “Me.”

She didn’t hazard a guess at the final score but said it would be a great game. “I’m always saying me. I don’t care who you put me up against, I’m always going to bet on myself,” she said. Confidence? Off the charts.

How’s Wilson’s wrist holding up?

That dream matchup will have to wait, though-Wilson is still nursing a wrist injury that limited her All-Star Game minutes to just 12. Still, she managed to contribute four points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Prior to the game, she was seen wearing a soft cast. According to Aces head coach Becky Hammon, there’s no fracture-just a strain. Recovery is ongoing, but if Wilson’s attitude is any indication, she’ll be back dominating the court (and maybe Bam) in no time.
