After many problems, Marcus Jordan confirms his sobriety so as not to disappoint his father Michael Jordan

Marcus Jordan, the youngest son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, is beginning a new chapter in his life.

After a troubling incident in early February that led to his arrest and drew widespread media attention, Marcus has now publicly celebrated 40 days sober.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram to share the positive update with his 173,000 followers, posting a story that read, “40 days sober & counting…” Accompanied by two stickers reading “loading bar” and “in progress,” the message signaled not just his current sobriety, but a clear intention to continue healing and transforming.

Sobriety milestone follows a chaotic arrest and a court-mandated treatment plan

Back on February 4, Marcus found himself in legal trouble after being pulled over in Maitland, Florida, just 11 miles north of Orlando.

According to police, he attempted to speed away and eventually stopped his blue Lamborghini Urus on CSX railroad tracks. Officers arriving on the scene found his hazard lights blinking, with a train due any minute. The situation escalated quickly, and dashcam footage later revealed his now-viral exchange with officers.

“Bro, I’m Marcus Jordan. I’m Michael Jordan‘s son! I’m not doing anything wrong, I’m just trying to get home. And I made a wrong turn. OK?” he told the officers.

He was ultimately arrested and hit with three separate charges. Notably, his behavior in custody-particularly demanding to hear Mariah Carey songs-raised eyebrows and painted a chaotic picture of the night’s events. Initially, Marcus pleaded not guilty to the charges, but a month later, his legal team acknowledged in court documents that he needed professional help to address substance use issues.

“[Marcus] acknowledges that he needs help to overcome the challenges of his alcohol/substance use and is amenable to treatment,” the documents stated, as reported by People. They went on to highlight his goals: “His participation in the Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program will not only benefit him personally but also serve the community by reducing the likelihood of future offenses.”

The documents also included a personal declaration that Jordan is committed to becoming a “responsible, dr-g-free, and productive member of the community.”
