After 22 years in the NBA, LeBron James still recognizes Michael Jordan as an inspiration

For more than two decades, LeBron James has turned every game into a true spectacle. Inspiring thousands of children, young people, and adults, the NBA icon has achieved countless feats.

Now, King James is about to enter his 23rd season in the league at age 40. His future with the Los Angeles Lakers continues to be a topic of discussion, especially after his agent, Rich Paul, revealed to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that there are four teams interested in LBJ: the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Clippers. However, Paul also made it clear that LeBron has not requested a trade.

This time, however, James’ name has come up because of his admiration for another NBA legend.

LBJ’s inspiration

Just as he is a role model for thousands of fans, he also had his own idols when he took his first steps in the sport.

In a preview of the upcoming episode of the podcast “Mind the Game,” it was revealed on the official X account that the Lakers star admired Michael Jordan and still does.

There was nobody more inspiring to me than Michael Jordan. For me, I think our games would’ve complemented each other well. MJ was a flat-out scorer. He had a scorer’s mentality-scorer, scorer, scorer.

The truth is that, as he spoke, the audience erupted in response to his statements. And on social media, fans made themselves heard.

The debate over trying to know or define the GOAT of basketball has been unresolved for years. And the battle is between LeBron and Michael Jordan.

“Bron keep showing love to MJ. Haters will find something wrong with this too lol,” said one follower. “Can’t wait for Jordan fans to take this completely out of context,” commented another. “This is why MJ is the GOAT,” said a third fan. “LeGOAT is my inspiration,” commented one more user.

MJ fans claim that his 6-0 record in the NBA Finals and his 10 league scoring titles in 15 seasons make him the best.

For their part, James’ fans counter by saying that LeBron has more appearances in the Finals (10) and is the league’s all-time leading scorer.

Despite this, while fans cannot agree on who deserves the title of GOAT, they show each other respect and admiration.
