Alexis Ohanian, tech entrepreneur and husband of tennis icon Serena Williams, recently shared a playful moment involving his youngest daughter, Adira.
The Ohanian family, known for their love of diverse cuisines, found themselves at the center of a breakfast experience that didn’t quite go as expected.
Ohanian, the founder of investment firm 776, was gifted a custom-labeled jar of Vegemite by Australian biotechnologist Alinta Furnell. Furnell, who co-founded the company Synbiote, a biotechnological firm focused on enhancing battery systems, had previously sent a jar of Vegemite to Ohanian during a summit. In a social media post,
Furnell expressed gratitude for her time as a fellow at Ohanian’s 776 Foundation, showcasing the customized gift. Ohanian, ever the proud dad, shared a humorous update on the experience.
“I gave @AdiraOhanian a taste this morning at breakfast and she is not yet a fan… not yet,” he wrote.
The strong, salty flavor of Vegemite-often spread on toast in Australia-didn’t win over the young Ohanian, but it certainly provided some amusing content for his followers.
A proud father embraces the “Girl Dad” role
Adira, born in August 2023, is Ohanian and Williams’ second daughter, joining their firstborn, Olympia, who was born in 2017. Williams retired from professional tennis in 2022 after the US Open, dedicating her time to family life and business ventures. Meanwhile, Ohanian continues to juggle his role as an entrepreneur with his responsibilities as a father.
In a December 2024 Instagram Q&A, Ohanian opened up about the joy of being a “girl dad.” He expressed his love for the learning experience that comes with raising daughters.
“They are so sweet, very kinder than I was at their age… and it only gets better.”
Ohanian, a staunch supporter of women’s sports, recently made headlines for addressing rumors surrounding his involvement in boosting attendance at ATHLOS events, a venture he actively supports.
As the Ohanian family continues to grow, Alexis remains a dedicated father, savoring every moment-even if it means dealing with a bit of Vegemite rejection at breakfast.
