A’ja Wilson is closing out her seventh season in the WNBA in a way that is, to say the least, exceptional. She racked up 16 consecutive wins in the regular season with the Las Vegas Aces, was named Kia WNBA MVP for a record fourth time, and will battle for the championship against the Phoenix Mercury in the Playoff Finals.
Off the court, however, her life seems to be a little slower and more private, although she has attracted attention by revealing an intimate but everyday detail about her boyfriend, Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo.
A’ja confesses candid details about daily life
The seven-time All-Star Game averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals in 40 games played with the Aces, shooting 50.5% from the field.
So it’s no surprise that she earned 51 of 72 votes for first place MVP, and on September 21, the 29-year-old center became the first player in the league to win four MVP awards. Wilson won this award for the first time in 2020, then in 2022, she repeated her feat in 2024, and again this year.
Her boyfriend was present when she received the award, and he was the one who presented it to her. Now, in an interview with Women’s Health, A’ja revealed how she eats as a professional athlete and how she maintains a balanced diet so she can eat and enjoy the foods she likes without losing energy.
However, what caught the attention were her statements about how she and Adebayo handle their meals, admitting that they don’t cook, but that they complement each other:
I’m not a leftover type of girl. Bam likes to eat leftovers. We don’t cook at all. It really just kind of changes, honestly. It’s always something different… I have to have a fresh meal like every single time, he’s more into leftovers, so it kind of just fluctuates.
The couple went public earlier this year after several rumors linking them emerged in 2024, after they were seen together at the Paris Olympics.
However, they have chosen to keep their private life out of the public eye, although they do not hesitate to support each other by attending their teams’ games or presenting an MVP award.
Now, after defeating the Indiana Fever in Game 5 of the Semifinals 107-98, A’ja and the Las Vegas Aces must prepare to host the Phoenix Mercury at home at Michelob Ultra Arena on Friday for Game 1 of the Playoff Finals in a best-of-7 series.
