Aaron Rodgers was strongly warned by Will Howard, quarterback from Ohio State, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Aaron Rodgers saga, although it has died down in the days leading up to the NFL draft, is far from over, and at any moment, it could make headlines again. The legendary quarterback has not given the Pittsburgh Steelers any news, leaving them still waiting to find out whether he will play for them or not.

In the meantime, the Steelers re-signed Mason Rudolph in free agency and selected Ohio State’s championship-winning quarterback, Will Howard, in the sixth round of the draft.

The reality is that the Steelers’ management hopes Rodgers will be their starting quarterback at least for the upcoming season. However, time is running out for Rodgers, who, according to several reports, has his eyes set on signing with the Minnesota Vikings, a team that hasn’t said yes but hasn’t ruled it out either.

Howard could be one of the steals of the Draft

Howard was the national champion last season with Ohio State and had an outstanding performance in the College Football Playoffs, which is why Bryan DeArdo from CBS Sports has labeled him one of the “five biggest steals” of the draft.

“It’s not common to find a quarterback in the sixth round with the credentials Howard has,” DeArdo wrote. “During his final season in college, Howard led the Big Ten in completion percentage, passing yards, and passing touchdowns while guiding the Buckeyes to the national title.”

Howard set a record at Ohio State by completing 73 percent of his passes. He also threw for 4,010 yards and 35 passing touchdowns, along with seven rushing touchdowns. It’s worth noting that Joe Gruden compared him to the current NFL MVP, Josh Allen.

With the uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers and where he will play next season, there’s no doubt that Howard could be a candidate to start for the Steelers, even though Mason Rudolph has plenty of experience in the NFL and, in particular, with Pittsburgh, where he has posted decent numbers.

One of Howard’s strengths is his winning mindset, especially given that he led one of the nation’s premier programs, Ohio State.
