The New York Jets‘ challenging 2024 season took another downturn in Week 16 with a 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at MetLife Stadium.
The defeat marked the Jets‘ 10th loss in their last 12 games, solidifying a worse record than the previous season and eliminating them from playoff contention.
Aaron Rodgers, who completed the game with 256 passing yards, six rushing yards, and one touchdown pass, expressed frustration with his team’s performance during the post-game press conference.

The Jets had maintained a slim 9-6 lead heading into the fourth quarter but faltered late, giving up 13 unanswered points in the final 13 minutes.
In a candid critique, Rodgers suggested that some players had already given up on the season.
“We are kinda past keeping positive,” Rodgers said.
“It’s about perspective… Your perspective is something you can change every single day. It’s not to change the reality of the situation, being 4-11, out of the playoffs, going into an unknown offseason. You gotta figure out what it means to be a professional. That’s an important part of building culture. The last two weeks we can really see who’s on board moving forward and who is ready to get out.”
Jets’ offseason uncertainty looms
Rodgers’ comments underscore the turbulent state of the Jets as they approach the offseason. Reports from ESPN’s Dianna Russini revealed internal disagreements regarding Rodgers‘ role earlier in the season. Team owner Woody Johnson reportedly considered benching Rodgers but was persuaded otherwise by then-general manager Joe Douglas, who has since been dismissed.
With the Jets‘ playoff hopes extinguished, questions surrounding Rodgers‘ future with the franchise have intensified.
Despite the team’s struggles, Rodgers has expressed a desire to remain in New York, but the ultimate decision may rest with the organization. If released, the four-time MVP’s next move remains uncertain.
