As he prepares to face his former team for the first time, Aaron Rodgers has expressed deep appreciation for his 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, emphasizing that his football journey both began – and will ultimately end – in Green Bay.
During a video call with Packers reporters on Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback reflected on his time in Wisconsin, echoing sentiments he shared a day earlier about his lasting connection to the franchise despite their difficult parting in 2023.
“Feel so good about my time there because damn near everything great in my life is because of my football career, and my football career starts, and will end one day, with Green Bay,” Rodgers said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “So got a lot of love for all those memories.”

Sunday’s matchup will take place at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, but Rodgers admitted that playing this particular game at Lambeau Field would have carried more sentimental value given the countless memories he created there.
“It would mean a lot more if it was being played at Lambeau,” he said, noting that the stadium holds a special place in his career.
While the veteran quarterback is unlikely to play another down in Green Bay, he made it clear he plans to return when the time comes to retire officially as a member of the Packers.
Over 18 seasons with the team, Rodgers built one of the most accomplished résumés in NFL history – four MVP awards, a Super Bowl victory, and countless unforgettable moments.
Now leading the Steelers, Rodgers continues to add to his legacy, but his heart, and the closing chapter of his career, remain firmly tied to Green Bay.
