Aaron Rodgers, now in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform, takes aim at the New York Giants-especially Jaxson Dart

There’s no doubt that Aaron Rodgers, despite being 41 years old, brings added value to the NFL, particularly because of the attention he generates. He’s a media magnet and unquestionably polarizing, both on and off the field. Without a doubt, he’s a player who, once retired, will be a Hall of Famer five years later.

Despite the dreadful team results with the New York Jets last season, the reality is that if we look at Aaron Rodgers’ numbers, many quarterbacks would envy them. The University of California product threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdown passes, and only 11 interceptions.

Now there’s no question that Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and while it will be tough, they could potentially compete with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North-two teams that are Super Bowl contenders for next season.

Rodgers reveals there were other teams interested in him

Several teams had conversations with Aaron Rodgers, including the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants. However, in the Vikings’ case, they had J.J. McCarthy ready to take off this season, and the Giants selected Jaxson Dart in the first round and also picked up Russell Wilson. That left the Steelers as the only real option.

The Steelers are one of the most historic franchises in the NFL, and under Mike Tomlin, they always seem to find a way to compete. But once in the playoffs, they haven’t had enough to make a deep run-maybe with Rodgers, they finally will.

One of the key factors behind Rodgers’ decision to join Pittsburgh was, without a doubt, coach Mike Tomlin. This is what the current Steelers quarterback had to say to the media:

“There were conversations with other organizations, for sure,” Rodgers said. “But, again, the rapport that developed between Mike [Tomlin] and me made it so that, while I was dealing with my personal stuff, there was no other option for me. It was here or not play.”

“I felt like being here with Coach T and the guys they’ve got here, and the opportunity that’s here, was the best thing for me-and I’m excited to be here,” Rodgers added.

Aaron Rodgers now has a good coach, a solid offensive line, and a top-tier receiver in DK Metcalf. So if Steelers fans are looking for reasons to be hopeful, the truth is-there are plenty.
