Aaron Rodgers drops major hint over which NFL team he will be signing with after brutal snub

Aaron Rodgers, one of the most decorated quarterbacks in NFL history, appears to be on the verge of making the Pittsburgh Steelers his new football home.

After being released by the New York Jets in March following an injury-plagued and disappointing 2024 season, the 41-year-old quarterback has entered free agency for the first time in his career. And now, all signs point toward him wearing black and gold next season.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and owner Art Rooney II have made no secret of their interest in signing Rodgers.

They’ve both spoken publicly about their optimism regarding a potential deal, and insiders report that the organization has been aggressive in their pursuit of the future Hall of Famer. Still, Rodgers has not committed to any team – yet.

But during a recent public appearance in Austin, Texas, Rodgers may have offered the clearest clue about his plans. Participating in a Q&A session that was later shared on rapper Mike Stud’s YouTube channel, Rodgers was asked by a young fan if he would consider signing with the Chicago Bears.

What did Rodgers say?

Rodgers’ response was as sharp and strategic as his play on the field.

“No,” Rodgers said with a grin. “But I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year…a road trip…I love Chicago, though, way more than they love me! It’s been a great relationship, all one way!”

That comment raised eyebrows, especially considering that the Steelers are scheduled to visit the Bears at Soldier Field in Week 12 on November 23. Rodgers’ playful but pointed remark has sparked speculation that he’s already made up his mind – and that decision involves a Steelers jersey.

Rodgers has a well-documented history of dominance against the Bears. Over 29 regular-season games, he holds a stunning 24-5 record, with 64 touchdown passes and only 10 interceptions.

He also led the Green Bay Packers to a memorable victory over the Bears in the 2010 NFC Championship Game. His legacy in Chicago is one of torment – from the Bears’ perspective – and triumph for Rodgers and his fans.

The timing of his comments is significant. If Rodgers were planning to retire, many believe he would have made that announcement by now. Instead, his presence at public events, upbeat demeanor, and carefully chosen words suggest a man still hungry to compete at the highest level.

Joining the Steelers would give Rodgers the chance to lead a storied franchise with a strong defense, young weapons on offense, and a coach in Mike Tomlin who commands respect across the league.

It also offers Rodgers a fresh start and a shot at one more deep playoff run – something that eluded him in his final seasons with the Packers and during his short stint with the Jets.

While there’s still no official announcement, Rodgers’ words in Austin may have spoken louder than any press release. For now, Steelers fans are left waiting – but with growing confidence that Rodgers is bringing his talents to Pittsburgh.
