Aaron Judge’s record remains intact as Cal Raleigh threatens to take MVP
The record for most home runs in a season in the American League of Aaron Judge with 62 remains intact while Cal Raliegh, who threatens to take away the MVP (Most Value Player) hit 60 home runs in the 2025 MLB season and was just two home runs short of the mark of The Judge, who set it in the 2022 Major League Baseball season.
The race for MVP
Both Aaron Judge and Cal Raliegh helped the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners, respectively, to qualify for the 2025 MLB playoffs. Judge did so with his hitting, especially home runs (53), RBIs (131) and average .331 (batting champion).
Meanwhile, Cal Raleigh also did it with 60 home runs and being the daily catcher who led the pitching of the Seattle Mariners, who unlike the New York Yankees qualified for the postseason as the champions of the American League West Division, while the Bronx Bombers did so via the Wild Card, so some believe that the catcher can take the MVP away from Aaron Judge.
What’s next for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners?
The New York Yankees will play their eternal rival the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card series at Yankee Stadium in a best-of-three series to qualify for the divisional series to play the Toronto Blue Jays. Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners await in the Division Series the winner of the Wild Card series between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians.
