After winning the American League MVP award in 2024, Aaron Judge‘s performance in the World Series left much to be desired, so the New York Yankees captain has used that thorn in his side to have, so far, a start to the 2025 season that has caught the eye.
Judge’s offensive statistics are impressive, catching the attention of MLB fans as he hits true cannon shots all over the place.
Aaron Judge is making history
After the first month of the season, Judge has an impressive .423 batting average with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs, which puts him in first place in several league statistics. As a tribute to his batting supremacy, his OPS was an incredible 1.312
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone also explained that he feels his captain has not reached his best performance, so we could expect more things from Judge in the year.
I don’t even feel like Aaron Judge has reached his ceiling. And I’m not kidding. He just becomes such a good hitter that it’s very hard to get out of the strike zone, so if you’re perfect as a pitcher, you have a chance to get him out.
However, former MLB executive David Samson explained that Judge has one task pending to become a legendary player.
“You can’t be a historic Yankee without a World Series ring. Enough of that talk. Give Aaron Judge one or two rings with three MVPs, and he’ll be on that list,” Samson said, emphasizing the importance of team achievements in a player’s legacy.
Judge continues with that unfinished business. In 2024 he reached the Fall Classic, but his performance, like that of the Bronx Bombers, left much to be desired, but that does not mean that he is not a great player.
Judge’s influence is enormous with the Yankees, he is the face of the team, inspires the fans and has great optimism for a new era with the Yankees.
A painful defeat
On Sunday, the Yankees lost 7-5 against the Tampa Bay Rays, their second defeat in a row, and although they remain at the top of the American League East Division, the Yankees have the fewest wins for a division leader with 19.
“It’s time to recover, get ready for San Diego,” Judge said, emphasizing the need to move on from Monday’s series against the Padres.
