As the debate for the American League MVP continues, Aaron Judge keeps proving why he should be considered the best hitter of our era, or perhaps of all time. With the New York Yankees fighting their own battle for the AL East, it’s Judge who made history with just a few games left in the season.
Aaron Judge joins an elite group
Against the Chicago White Sox, Aaron Judge reached 50 home runs in 2025, marking his fourth consecutive season with 50 or more homers, joining an elite group that includes only Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa.
The fans’ gesture toward Judge
After giving the Yankees the lead with his three-run homer, the fans in attendance for the second game of the series against the White Sox gave Aaron Judge a standing ovation as he took his position in the outfield.
Sammy Sosa achieved the feat between 1998 and 2001 (66, 63, 50, 64), Mark McGwire did the same between 1996 and 1999 (52, 58, 70, 65), while Babe Ruth was the first in baseball history to accomplish it with seasons of 50 or more home runs in 1920, 1921, 1927, and 1928.
