Garrett Crochet, the Red Sox ace, silenced the Yankees’ powerful offense and, in the process, earned the biggest praise of the night. After Boston’s 3-1 victory in Game 1 of the Series on Tuesday, Aaron Judge had no hesitation in labeling Crochet as “the best pitcher in the game”.

Judge’s praise did not go unnoticed, and Crochet’s performance was fantastic. Having such a high-profile figure speak well of you means a lot to gain confidence and know that you are on the right track.

Garrett Crochet’s big night

Crochet’s performance was a masterclass in pitching, validating Judge’s words. The two-time All-Star left-hander dominated the Yankees, allowing just one earned run and just four hits.

His power was evident with 11 strikeouts without conceding a single base. The only blemish on his record was a solo home run by Anthony Volpe in the second inning. After that hit, the player retired 17 consecutive batters, keeping the New York bats at bay.

Aaron Judge’s praise

After the game, Judge explained that Crochet was “the best pitcher in the game”, and also commented on how the game went.

“(Crochet) is going to use all his pitches, he worked a little bit more with off-speed pitches at the start. We got Volpe’s home run, we got people on base, but we didn’t do much after that,” said Judge, who valued the work of the opposing player.
