Aaron Judge faces up after defeat against Astros: Reveals reasons for Yankees’ losing streak

The New York team continues to struggle, going through one of the most difficult moments of the season and with a serious risk of being left out of the fight for a place in the playoffs, which would represent a resounding failure for a team with such high expectations as the Yankees

They now have a new defeat, this time against the Houston Astros, with a score of 7-1, and with it their aspirations of becoming champions this season begin to fade.

With this new setback, Aaron Boone’s team is now just half a game behind the Cleveland Guardians for the third and final American League wild card

Good news for the Yankees, in the midst of the storm

In the midst of this disheartening outlook, there is some good news: the return of Aaron Judge. The star outfielder is back in the lineup after missing 10 games with an elbow injury, although it should be noted that he is still not fit to play defense and has been used solely as a designated hitter.

This situation has affected Giancarlo Stanton‘s playing time, as he usually fills that role. Stanton had to take the field on Saturday, something he had not done since 2023.

Aaron Judge breaks his silence and talks about the team’s situation

After Sunday’s defeat, the ‘Judge’ delivered his ‘verdict’, spoke to the media and was clear about the current situation of the team

In statements to SNY, Judge expressed his frustration while taking responsibility for the team’s poor performance, comments that have been well received by fans:

“It’s tough, but there’s no excuses. We’re paid to go out there, perform at our best and win baseball games. The fans keep filling the stadium and showing their support, and we have to respond. We have to go out and do our job.”

Aaron Judge.

The captain also pointed to a lack of attention to detail as one of the reasons for the poor form:

We are not doing the little things that put us in position to win games. This is going to take all of us… I wouldn’t say we’ve lost confidence.

Judge

Meanwhile, the inconsistency of the team has been evident. The numbers back this up, as just in the last week, the Yankees are averaging just 2.83 runs per game, with the bullpen erratic. Reliever Devin Williams, a two-time All-Star, has two losses and one save wasted since Monday.

No doubt Boone, who is hanging by a thread, and the Yankees in general will have to start rowing against the tide and do it quickly before it is too late and they let another season go by without giving significant joy to their fans.
