As the MLB regular season nears its three-quarter mark, Aaron Judge continues to reinforce his superstar status. The New York Yankees slugger has impressively climbed from No. 4 in ESPN’s early April rankings to earning the No.1 ranking in their midseason update.

The outfielder will finally get back to position duties as he overcame an injury toward the end of the season. Judge’s remarkable consistency and power at the plate have made him a clear standout, even as other top talents like Shohei Ohtani juggle both hitting and pitchings responsibilities. His offensive dominance has become a pillar of the Yankees’ season and a central sotryline across the league.

What cemented Judge’s No.1 ranking

ESPN’s initial 2025 rankings placed Judge at No.4, behind Shohei Ohtani, Bobby Witt Jr., and Mookie Betts. As the season has progressed, Judge’s stat line has spoken volumes: 37 home runs, 87 RBIs, and a robust .336 batting average across 109 games.

This numbers not only highlight his offensive firepower but also underscore his role as the driving force behind a Yankees offense that often looks to him for momentum. Though Ohtani remains an elite two-way star, Judge’s singular focus on hitting has allowed him to pull ahead in the rankings, reinforcing the value of sheer offensive production in the midseason snapshot.

Judge’s legacy with the Yankees

Judge’s ascent to the top spot is a testament to his MVP caliber season. In 2024, he cptured his second AL MVP award by unanimous vote, leading MLB in home runs, RBIs, on-base, and slugging percentages. Meanwhile, his ongoing excellence has further cemented his Yankee history, with comparisons being drawn to legends like Ruth, Gehrig, and Mantle.

This recognition doesn’t just elevate Judge’s individual brand, it sets an important tone for the Yankees as they continue their postseason push. His performance provides a benchmark for effort and leadership, inspiring teammates and underscoring why he’s consistently viewed as one of the game’s most impactful figures.
