The New York Yankees couldn’t pull off another miracle and suffered a defeat that ended their season, marking 16 years since their last World Series triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009, the franchise’s most recent championship. All eyes now turn to Aaron Judge, the superstar outfielder who has yet to win a World Series title with the team.
Aaron Boone was forced to accept defeat and acknowledge that the Toronto Blue Jays were the better team after a 5-2 loss at Yankee Stadium. One of the players who stepped up to face the media was none other than the team’s captain, Aaron Judge.
The Loss Hit Aaron Judge Hard
The Yankees’ star appeared before the press, his demeanor revealing the weight of the moment. Aaron Judge looked devastated, with red eyes and on the verge of tears, a testament to how deeply he cares for the franchise and his commitment to it.
When asked what piece the New York Yankees are missing to win the World Series, Judge responded, “It’s tough to say.”
Judge batted .500 (13-for-26) with seven RBIs and four walks across seven postseason games, with six of those RBIs coming against the Toronto Blue Jays. However, the Yankees were outscored 34-19 in the series, with a 9-4 deficit in home runs, highlighting struggles in pitching and several defensive miscues as key factors in their downfall.
Judge was also candid when asked about his offseason plans: “I want to get back out there right now, wish Spring Training was in a couple weeks.” However, he’ll have to wait several months to return to action, giving him time to recover from this painful loss and leaving the New York Yankees with the sole focus of finding answers to return to their winning ways.
