Aaron Boone’s firing is being called for and a former Yankees player has thrown his hat in the ring for the job

Former New York Yankees player Clint Frazier has reacted unexpectedly to the frustration with manager Aaron Boone that is reaching a boiling point in the Bronx. While the Yankees are going through one of their worst stretches, losing six of their last 10 games, the pressure on Boone has escalated and now Frazier has hinted that he could take over the job.

The trigger was a message from Boone himself, who, after a recent slump by the team, declared it was “time to show character”, a comment that did not sit well with fans. In that context, a follower tagged Frazier, who played for the Yankees until 2021, with a direct message: “@clintfrazier for manager”.

Frazier’s response

Frazier’s response was not long in coming. Quoting the post, the 30-year-old former outfielder wrote: “Give me the keys to the car and I’ll drive a million miles an hour to a championship”. This bold comment has ignited social media, as Frazier, who was one of the team’s top prospects, has remained on the public radar with the idea of launching a podcast about the Yankees.

Boone's departure requested

The team's situation has led to media figures such as WFAN's Evan Roberts openly calling for Boone's firing. Roberts criticized the poor management of the bullpen and defensive errors, stating that "firing the manager motivates teams".

Although management has shown remarkable loyalty to Boone during his eight seasons in charge, the recent sweep at the hands of the Marlins, the first in franchise history, has left his position more vulnerable than ever. However, with captain Aaron Judge back in the lineup, the Yankees' focus is on limiting mistakes, hoping that this will be enough to avoid a season to forget.
