Imagine what he could do with a team of well-paid stars and the Yankees logo on his chest. His 146-178 record as a manager doesn’t tell the whole story: he took over a Marlins team that wasn’t ready to compete and still managed to make the playoffs in his first year.
As a player, he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals, where he won a World Series in 2011.
