Aaron Boone justifies Giancarlo Stanton’s absence from New York Yankees lineup

He started the season injured, recovered and was assigned the position of designated hitter. With Aaron Judge’s injury, he was placed as a right fielder, but for the third consecutive day he has been left out of the starting lineup with the New York Yankees. This has been the story of Giancarlo Stanton this season, where fans have wondered why a power hitter was left out of the lineup.

Giancarlo Stanton suffered from tendinitis in both arms this year, which initially sidelined him for the first two months of the season. Since then, Stanton has played right field in five consecutive games, starting four of them, including all three against the Minnesota Twins. This was his first time playing outfield since September 2023. In fact, he had not played in the outfield in consecutive games since August 2023.

Why did Giancarlo Stanton miss the weekend games?

Giancarlo Stanton has been on the bench. Apparently, Stanton suffered a lower body injury after playing in the outfield. Speaking to the press, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was calm about Stanton’s situation. “I don’t think it’s anything serious. It’s like spring training. That’s why we give them four and five innings of starting and days off. You’re developing that potential.”

For the Yankees manager, he has given his players periods of activity and rest because for him it is like a marathon runner, he does not sit on the couch for three weeks to rest and then go run the marathon. He has to train for it. At the end of Sunday’s game, he said that Stanton’s status is still up in the air, but he believes the rest will be positive for him.

Did Giancarlo Stanton suffer a relapse in his injuries?

“I don’t want to put anyone in harm’s way, especially with tomorrow being an off day, and the field is very big. I feel like he’s in a good position to be a key player if we need someone off the bench today,” Boone said of Stanton. “We’ll see. There’s still a long time between now and Tuesday night.”

Stanton has led New York’s offense over the past month, slashing .333/.377/.681 with eight home runs, 18 RBI and 11 runs scored in 20 games, and an OPS of .949. In 43 games this season, Stanton is slashing .299/.373/.576, with twelve home runs and thirty four RBIs. The New York Yankees’ next game is scheduled against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday; first pitch is scheduled for 7:35 pm EST.
