The New York Yankees have one of the worst records since June, and it’s no secret that fans no longer want Aaron Boone as manager. Over the last two months, they’re essentially fighting for a postseason spot, and every move by the skipper is being scrutinized in great detail.
Now, in the Bronx Bombers‘ latest game, Boone displayed behavior that doesn’t help his case-in fact, it puts him in a bad light.
Fifth ejection for Aaron Boone this season
Umpire calls have been a hot topic this season, and it didn’t take long for Aaron Boone to lose his temper with Derek Thomas, arguing over balls and strikes decisions in the third inning.
The Yankees were chasing a win to secure their first series victory in August, but it wasn’t to be. Aaron Boone didn’t hide his emotions and ended up being ejected.
With the game down 2-0 against the Houston Astros, Boone began showing his frustration from the dugout, continuing to complain about the strike zone. After receiving a warning from the home plate umpire, he was tossed.
Boone didn’t stop there, taking to the field to continue his argument, marking his fifth ejection of the season-more than any other manager in MLB.
In 2022, he reached a career-high of nine ejections, dropping to seven and six in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Since 2018, Aaron Boone has been ejected 44 times, averaging one every 26 games.
Since June 12, the Yankees have a 20-30 record and are just one game away from being the worst team in the American League during this stretch. Their lead over the Cleveland Guardians for the Wild Card spot is now just 0.5 games. The Yankees‘ crisis seems far from over.
