A.J. Brown’s cryptic posts spark new trade rumors and hint to bigger issues in the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles might be 5-2, but not everything inside the locker room feels like a win. After their 28-22 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, the spotlight quickly shifted from the scoreboard to A.J. Brown’s mindset. Once again, the team’s star receiver is at the center of attention.

During ESPN’s NFL Live, analyst Dan Orlovsky shared a pointed take on Brown’s frustrations. “I think there is a reality that A.J. Brown prefers to be traded,” Orlovsky said. “I would disagree that he’s just trying to send a message about wanting more targets.”

The tension surrounding Brown is not a new story. Reports of dissatisfaction began last season and have only grown louder this year. Even after recording 121 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings, Brown’s cryptic Instagram message, “Using me, but not using me,” reignited speculation about his role in the offense and his long-term future in Philadelphia.

A Deeper Rift or a Misread Signal?

Orlovsky believes the issue runs deeper than play-calling. He suggested that Brown’s frustrations may reflect a disconnect between how the Eagles see their offense and how Brown believes he fits within it. “If this was something that was on Brown’s mind, a desire to be elsewhere, I don’t think it’s in their best interest to go and do that because they’re not running the ball,” Orlovsky explained.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts took a calmer approach when asked about Brown’s comments. “I just keep my focus singularly on the collective,” Hurts said, choosing to downplay the speculation. His response, though measured, did little to quiet the conversation.

With the November 4 trade deadline approaching, rumors have begun circulating about possible movement. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Eagles have “no plans” to trade Brown. Other reports from Bleeding Green Nation and Yardbarker describe a trade as “extremely unlikely,” citing both his contract structure and his value to the team’s offense.

For now, the Eagles insist that Brown remains part of their core. But as the season progresses, how they handle his concerns could shape not only their locker room chemistry but also their playoff ambitions. The scoreboard might show wins, but behind closed doors, the challenge is keeping everyone pulling in the same direction.
